Raju M. Durshettiwar (b.1963)
R. Durshettiwar has a degree in the Fine Arts(Applied) BFA, from ChitrakalaMahavidyalaya, Nagpur. In search of some new experiences, he went toCholamandal Artist village, Chennai. There he started growing and developing hispainting sensibilities. He worked on Window, an abstract expression of feelingand experience. This lead to evolution in architectural forms. He found it veryfascinating to express the play of light on architectural forms. His works are largelylightscapes through windows, infinite and architectural forms. Colors are the mostfascinating aspect of these works.He has won a Junior Research Fellowship in 2001 and a Senior Research Fellowshipin 2010, both in Visual Arts – Painting from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.He is a member of Progressive Painters Association – PPA, Cholamandal Artists’Village, Chennai.Raju has participated in various camps, workshops and auctions. He has had soloshows at Chennai, Pondicherry, Coimbatore, Mumbai and Goa; group shows allover the south of India, Mumbai and Malaysia. Among his many international showsare Genkan Gallery, Tokyo, Japan, 2000; KRI at Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, HongKong,2005; Landhuis Bloemhof, Curacao, Caribbean Island, 2004; “Madras Canvas”at Kula Lumpur in 2010 and Size – S, Show at Neharu Art centre, London.
