M. Senathipathi (b. 1939)
M. Senathipathi Born 1939, Madras, Tamilnadu and received his diploma in drawing and painting from Government College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai in 1965. He received a British Council grant in 1988, to travel to United Kingdom and other important cities in Europe. His works represent Indian Gods and imagery and greatly leans on Indian mythology. Deep rooted in his native elements, he combines all of them with contemporary forms. His metal works are equally striking and has a strong resemblance to his paintings.
Recent shows include solo exhibitions in Art World & Vinnyasa Art Gallery, Chennai. Jahangir art gallery – Mumbai, Denhague Museum – Holland, Quayside Gallery – England, GATE foundation in Amsterdam and Holland.
He is the President of Artist Handicraft Association at Cholamandal Artist’s Village, Chennai. since 1986. and the General Council Member, Central Lalit Kala Akademi. New Delhi & Committee member of Madras Lalit Kala Akademi. Awards Won the Kalaichemmal award, Govt of Tamil Nadu, Lalit Kala Akademi, Madras and Senior Fellowship, Dept. of Culture, Govt of India, New Delhi.
