Benedict Skhemlang Hynniewta (b. 1973)
Born and brought up in Shillong, Benedict completed his B.Fine in 1998 and M.Finein 2004 from Kala Bhavan, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan. He also passed theNET exam conducted by UGC, and had two solo exhibition on paintings, drawingsand sculptures in Art and Culture Hall,Shilong (1996) and Alt Space, Shillong (2005);he participated in several group exhibitions in Kolkota, ‘Thoh Shun’ at Dhaka,Amritsar, New Delhi, National Exhibition of Art at Ahmedabad, Third Biennial ofIndian Drawings at Chandigarh. He has also attended several Art workshops, wasawarded Artist of the Year by NE People’s Choice Award 2005; and is currently avisiting lecturer in the Department of Cultural & Creative Studies, North EasternHill University, Shillong, while being an active member of the apex committee ofthe National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.
